CS 385.04 Week 4 Post-Class: Research a tech company

Description

Pick a tech company with offices somewhere in California. Local companies who hire our students include BAMTech, Sonoma Technology, FIS Technologies, Carmel Software, Ciena, Broadcom, Keysight, AutoDesk, and Terrace Software. You're also welcome to choose a huge company like Google, or a startup you've read about. Any technically oriented company that could plausibly hire an entry-level CS graduate is fine.

This assignment is due at the beginning of class on September 19, via Moodle.

Assignment requirements

Give the following information about the company you researched:

• Main location, plus (optional) alternate locations if those interest you more and they hire developers
• Year it was founded, and whether it spun off from another company
• Main product(s) or line of business
• A recent news story or controversy

Cite your sources! It's OK if they're web sources or Wikipedia. They don't have to be definitive, but try to make them as credible as possible -- not some rando's Twitter.
